I like the atmosphere of this track. Which suits the longer 2nd break, so I wouldn't worry about that.

The only criticism that comes to mind is sidechain on the synth at 3:55 distracts from the melody, like, my ear is pulled to the fact that a peice is missing because of the sidechain. I would have tried without the sidechain or maybe just less of it.

Good luck! :)

CrowdDoll responds:

Oh thanks I'm going to experiment more on the side chain, thanks for the critic and ratings

This is a fun track. I love the intro and the cymbals that crash in at 1:20!

I have to agree with the previous comment about the kick drum though. I think even if you had 'humanized' but playing with the velocity of it it a little it would have given it a bit more of a warmer feel. It got a little distracting, but that could also be considered subjective.

Overall, really engaging track, keeps you listening to hear what happens next! Our group is going to be a nightmare to judge!

NoStereo responds:

Thanks, yeah ig playing with transients and a filter on the kick to mellow it out would be good. Musician's deafness I suppose. They all are actually humanized and round robin'd tho, hard to recognize on the kick drum tho.

I appreciate you taking the time to listen! It's in the hands of the judges now x)

This is great. Has that Crystal Method vibe I loved back in the day.

Accel-yo responds:

So happy you vibe with it! btw, I'll have to check out Crystal Method, I actually haven't heard of them until now.

You nailed this. It's a beautiful composition. I find some people convolute classical compositions for the sake of building to a climax, forgetting the story the song is sharing. You have not done this!

"you might even crack a smile when you remember the times they made you feel happy, but that quickly fades away when you know that feeling they gave you will never come again."

Right in the feels, man.

DigitalProdigy responds:

thank you so much for this wonderful comment. I really appreciate that!! writing sad music always hit me in the feels!!

Im listening on my phone speakers so can't really comment on the mix, but I enjoyed the chord progression and choice of instruments.

My criticism is the drums just stopped. The start has a couple of drums, then the finale kicks off with 2 big hits but then that's it. I think the drums could have progressed in energy to close it out... but that's just my subjective opinion.

Good job

SomeGuyMusic responds:

The timpani was only meant to transition certain parts but perhaps some different drums could have been added. Thanks for the feedback!
